A cooperation agreement between the Warsaw Bar Association and the Madrid Bar Association will be signed during the 8th Madrid Meetings, to be held in April 2016 in Madrid.
Discussions concerning cooperation between the Warsaw Bar Association and the Madrid Bar Association—Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid—have been underway for some time. The terms for cooperation were agreed in November 2015, and the signing is planned for April 2016 during the annual Madrid Meetings event hosted by the Madrid bar.
The agreement primarily concerns cooperation in providing young lawyers with access to international internships and training. The two bars will support mutual exchange of trainees and lawyers beginning to practise the profession. It is also important to ensure that lawyers have access to training events organized by either of the associations.
As part of the existing cooperation between the two bars, the Warsaw Bar Association is currently participating in a project financed by the European Commission and led by the Madrid Bar Association monitoring access to legal assistance in criminal cases in EU member states.
