Attorneys assist Home Army veterans

To mark the 71st anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, at the initiative of the Foreign Affairs Committee the Warsaw Bar Association is organizing a campaign to provide free legal assistance for veterans.

The Warsaw Uprising marked one of the most heroic events in Polish history. This national rebellion stands to this day as a symbol of patriotism, and the living heroes of those 63 dramatic days in 1944 deserve our care and remembrance. To honour the memory of the Warsaw Uprising, Warsaw attorneys have decided to provide pro bono assistance to surviving combatants.

Because many of the veterans are struggling with legal problems today, the Warsaw Bar Association invites them to attend a day of free legal advice. Warsaw attorneys want to take this symbolic but practical step to thank them for the difficulties they faced and the sacrifices they made during the war.

On Thursday, 30 July 2015, attorneys at law will provide pro bono legal advice to Home Army veterans at the offices of the Warsaw Bar Association at pl. Konstytucji 5, Warsaw, from 10 am to 5 pm.

The initiative is supported by the World Association of Home Army Soldiers and the National Film Archive, and the Mayor of Warsaw serves as honorary patron for the event.

Attorney at law Michał Wawrykiewicz discussed the initiative with journalists from TVP Info (coverage available here ).
